Summer!!!!

So, it might have been a few days since I last posted. Or a couple of months. Take your pick. I've recovered from the past year, have my feet back under me, and am ready to take on the world!

Let me sum up the past couple of days (read:months). I finished exams. Then I drove home to 5 days of no power due to the storms and tornadoes all across the South. Then D.C.!! My internship there was amazing!!!I learned so much and had tons of fun!! One of my best friends, Becca came to visit me, and I introduced her to a small taste of Southern culture and climate. We went to museums acted crazy and so on and so forth. Then it was back home and then on to Provo. I currently work and work and work. The end. And play more than I should, but hey it's summer!

New facts learned:

1. This is the best food invented. Next to chocolate of course!

2. I am on a flag-football team. A fact which shocks me just as much as everyone else.

3. I still love chocolate.

Auf Wiedersehen!

When I rule the world I'll plant flowers

Just to let y'all know, I plan to rule the world some day. Contrary to popular opinion I really am a snarky, manipulative, intimidating person. I would be a dictator along the lines of Megamind (Very cute movie by the way).

If I were an evil dictator, I would build an underwater palace with chocolate fountains.

If I were an evil dictator, I would have a private mountain for snowboarding and a private beach.

If I were an evil dictator, I would have a yacht.

If I were an evil dictator, I would have a pretty tiara.

These are my evil plans. As you can see, I am very evil at heart. I am currently accepting applications for minions/henchmen.

(Disclaimer: My plans are subject to modification. I am an evil dictator and may change my mind whenever I feel like it. My every whim will be obeyed, and I do not need to explain myself.)

A Letter

To Whom It May Concern:

I would really like Utah weather to pick a type of weather. In the space of a eight minute walk to work I experienced rain, sleet, and snow. This is not normal. You either rain or you snow. You do not do both. It is unethical.

I like chocolate.

I am a procrastinator.

I hate decisions. I refuse to grow up. You cannot force me to. It is unethical.

There should be an Olympic event that is for running in heels. I have realized that it is my talent in life and a gold Olympic medal would be very cool to receive.

I would greatly appreciate it if a ticket to Fiji showed up in my mailbox. Preferably with reservations at the underwater hotel for the next 10 years of my life. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Lauren

P.S. I really should be writing my paper on ethnic nationalism and its relationship to the strength of Eastern Europe states after 1989, but this was more enjoyable (read: it required less thinking).

February

So February was a very eventful month in quite a lot of ways. I don't feel like writing long drawn out explanations, so y'all get a nice little list.

1. Plane tickets to Fiji went up.

2. I have come up with at least 9 (most likely more) different plans to get to Fiji.

3. My Dad came to visit for a week!

4. I had the flu.

5. My stomach hated most food due to extreme amounts of stress.

6. I lost 14 lbs (see above two points).

7. I acquired a kindle.

8. I procrastinated making decisions (this really shouldn't surprise anyone).

9. I realized my blog title does not fit the content considering I never talk about my adventures.

10. I went on a polygamy date (we all just wanted the free dessert but a date was required and there were two girls and one boy, so the logical conclusion was that he took both of us on a date).

11. I finally got flowers from someone other than my Dad or Grandpa (of course they were from my amazing cousins to cheer me up, but it still counts right?).

12. Boys are idiots, and it will be quite a long time before I decide to trust them again.

13. Snarky is my new favorite word.

14. I was reminded how much I really like British accents.

I have realized that most of my recent posts are full of drivel about my life. I also realized that it had been awhile since I had posted. After these two realizations, I realized that I am still not in the mood to write cheery posts. And now I have said some form of the word realize quite a lot in only a few sentences. The only thing left that I can do is end the post before I say that word again.

Life is Crazy

I have realized that just when you think life is wonderful and nothing could go wrong, everything does. As I review how I felt last August, I wonder how so much has changed. The only thing I was worried about was my back and working for the first time during the school year.

Life doesn't wait for you to think you are ready for a new challenge. It just dumps it on you. I'm still not sure how in the world I have made it through all of the ups and downs of life. A month ago I was the happiest I had ever been and so happy with where I was in life. Now I'm not so sure.

I have realized how little control I have over my life. Yes I have the ability to make choices, but I can't control the choices of others. Now once again I have no idea where life is headed. The choice I make in the next month or so will determine my life for the next couple of years. Interships vs living abroad vs going a mission. I'll reiterate my statement from last post that I hate decisions. All I can do is be thankful that the Lord will help me make the right choice if I listen carefully.
